This Monday gives us a couple of high school headlines:

Daily sports editor Mark Edwards weighs in on last week’s Morgan County basketball tournament here.

And in a game from Saturday, the Hatton High girls get another stellar performance from Jordan Johnson in a win over Mars Hill. The victory gives the Lady Hornets home-court advantage for the Class 2A, Area 16 tournament. Link.

West Morgan boys can’t run, but breeze to crown: Rebels, normally at their best when running up and down the floor, beat Brewer in county title game with stellar half-court attack. Link

Decatur boys win, turn focus to Bob Jones: Lady Raiders also grab victory. Link

West Morgan defended its home court and won the county crown with a 58-41 decision over Brewer.

Just a reminder, folks …

National Signing Day is Wednesday, Feb. 2. Athens High QB Stephen Rivers headlines the list of local athletes who will sign Letters of Intent.

Decatur High OL Hayden Naumann is expected to sign with UAB, and linebacker Desmond Lavelle is a South Alabama commitment.

Of course, we’ll learn of others’ futures as they sign on the dotted line next week. Stay tuned for more recruiting goodness.

This post is a little late, but forgive me. I spent all day on the golf course and have just now gotten caught up at the office.
