This week’s high school football polls were released today, and the three ranked area teams stayed in the same slots.

The latest Alabama Sports Writers Association prep baseball and softball rankings came out today, and as usual the Decatur area is represented well.
In the softball rankings, Hartselle moved up to No. 2 in Class 5A, while Athens followed at No. 3 and Lawrence County was fifth. Ardmore was fourth in 4A, Hatton was fourth in 2A, and Addison was fifth in 1A.
In the baseball rankings, Athens was ranked eighth in 5A after extending its season-opening win streak to 19 games. Tanner was seventh in 2A and Athens Bible was third in 1A.

Earlier this season, when we were putting this blog together, I wanted to post a link to my favorite high school football computer rankings site, Y-Ratings. But for at least the first three weeks, there weren’t any rankings on the site. Today, when I looked up Y-Ratings again, there was plenty of stuff there.
Click this link to check it out. They’ve got rankings for every class (Decatur ranked No. 8 in Class 6A) and predictions for every game in the state. Translation: this site is the bomb.

Decatur High’s football team has been rising up the Class 6A poll for weeks, and now the Red Raiders are up to No. 3. It’s the highest ranking for Decatur since coming in at No. 2 in the first week of the 2006 ASWA poll. If you’re wonering, the Red Raiders were last ranked No. 1 in the ninth week of the 2000 poll.
Elsewhere, Hartselle remains No. 1 in Class 5A, Tanner comes in at No. 6 in Class 2A while getting a first-place vote, and R.A. Hubbard is ranked fifth in Class 1A.
