Volleyball legend steps down

Pam Wilkins has stepped down as Addison High’s volleyball coach, citing a desire to spend more time with her eight-year-old son.

Wilkins made quite a name for herself and her alma mater during her eight years as head coach, winning five state titles and sending several players to college. The Bulldogs won the Class 1A crown last fall after taking the 2A title in 2009.

In an interview with The Cullman Times, Wilkins said she hopes two former players, Lana Pigg or Kayla Woodard, will succeed her as coach.

Tanner-East Lawrence rescheduled

Tanner will travel to East Lawrence on Tuesday (tomorrow) for girls and boys basketball games. The girls game will tip off at 6 p.m., with the boys following around 7:30.

The games were rescheduled from earlier this month when snow and ice prompted cancellations of classes by school districts across the northern part of the state.
