Taylor rumor just a rumor

– posted by Cody Whitlock

An unnamed source said that West Limestone junior and former Auburn football commitment Alex Taylor, who was recently dismissed from the Wildcats’ football team, will transfer schools.

But according to his legal guardian and former football coach, there is no truth to the claim.

Alex Taylor

Martha Taylor, Alex’s legal guardian, said in a phone conversation minutes ago that Alex is still enrolled at West Limestone. Wildcats football coach David Arnsparger said the same, while adding Taylor’s dismissal remains in effect.

Taylor was dismissed last month for disclosed reasons, and, immediately following Arnsparger’s decision to dismiss the first-team all-stater, Auburn no longer honored his commitment.

Daily Double, 5-17

The end of the high school sports season is upon us. This weekend, four local teams will play in the state softball tournament in Montgomery. Then, it’s all over until football and volleyball. Hard to believe, huh?

Well, here’s another thing that’s gonna be hard to take. The Daily Double is going away for a while. Without a daily flow of prep headlines, it just doesn’t make sense to have a, well, daily feature like that. But don’t worry. It’ll be back in the fall.

Until then, we’ll just start posting prep article as they appear.

Like this one, on Austin High graduate Juwan Simpson. Now entering his fourth year as a professional football player, Simpson has turned himself into an all-star in the CFL. By Daily sports intern Brett Hudson. Link

Here’s an excerpt:

“That was my first year up here and my first championship win,” Simpson said. “You hear guys talking about how hard it is to win championships, but you don’t know it until you’re getting ready for the championship game.”
